This word comes from the Hebrew Cabala, which means reception.
Cabal, mean in a figurative way, a private society which are in the same confidence and in the same interests: but it usually takes itself in bad part. All these people are of the same cabal. We also say it plots and secret projects, intentions which form in this society. We made a cabal to slander this Tragedy.
Cabal, also says to itself some friends' societies which have between them a connection more narrow than with others, without having any bad intention, as to amuse, study.
